Message from the President of the Asian Society of Endometriosis and Adenomyosis

I am delighted that the 9th Asian Conference on Endometriosis is being held in Colombo, Sri Lanka from 28thto 30th November 2021, despite the major challenges posed by the pandemic. I thank my Sri Lankan colleagues for making the courageous decisions necessary to ensure the conference could be held.

Asia is home to over a quarter of the world’s population and there would undoubtedly be many women who suffer the consequences of endometriosis. This conference would hopefully bring into focus the Asian perspective of the disease, given the unique cultural and economic realities of the continent, whilst bringing forth globally applicable knowledge.

Judging by the way the pandemic has unfolded it would be fair to assume that the transactions of the conference would be conducted mostly online. However, the organizers have left the option of physical participation depending on the progress of the pandemic.

I want to thank the Scientific Programme Committee for harnessing the expertise of leading clinicians, researchers and professors in the field of endometriosis for the conference. Leaders from the West to the Far East are included in the list of speakers. The program promises to be rich and of interest to anyone involved in the area.

I wish the Conference all success and invite you to participate actively in its transactions. I hope however, that the pandemic will abate in time for the conference so that I would have the pleasure of welcoming you in Sri Lanka personally.

Message from the Patron

The Endometriosis and Adenomyosis Association of Sri Lanka

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to the 9th Asian Congress on Endometriosis which will be held on Colombo, Sri Lanka from October 28th-30th, 2021. The pandemic that has affected us all, also resulted in having to postpone the meeting that was originally scheduled for November 2021. We are still not out of the woods but due to the amazing developments in scientific discovery, vaccines have been produced in record time and there is light at the end of the tunnel. But recent developments have also shown us that we still need to be vigilant with strict precautions and social distancing before can resume our normal lives.

The Program and Speakers for the ACE meeting is outstanding and continues the excellence on the Science of Endometriosis that we have all come to expect at this meeting. Although it would be wonderful to have you all attend the 9th Congress in person and experience the beautiful island of Sri Lanka and enjoy our warm hospitality that is known worldwide, the current global crisis has compelled us to hold the 9th Congress as a hybrid meeting. This will hopefully provide an opportunity for everyone to attend either in person or virtually and participate fully in the Congress. We truly look forward to your participation in which ever format you would feel most comfortable.

Message from the Congress Chair

It is with great pleasure that I invite you to participate in the IXth Asian Congress on Endometriosis (ACE2021), to be held from 28th to 30th October 2021. Due to the pandemic, we will be holding it in a ‘hybrid’ format. It means you could join us from the comfort of your home or workplace or if you so choose and the pandemic permits, we invite you to make the Congress an opportunity to visit our beautiful country.

Despite a major thrust in research, endometriosis remains as enigmatic as ever. The ‘bottom line’ is that the treatment received by women suffering from the disease remains suboptimal. This remains so particularly for women of Asia. In this Conference, have lined up lectures by some of the leading global experts in the field, spanning the West to the East, catering to the needs of clinicians as well as researchers. We hope that this Conference will help to build bridges between researchers and clinicians and East-West cooperation to improve the quality of care received by the millions of endometriosis sufferers all over the world.

I look forward to the pleasure of welcoming you to the ACE 2021 either online or in person!!!

Congress Chair
